Well if you shortened the stock by a good 6-7" it wouldn't look so bad - it would be pretty nifty I reckon!

sorry to hear this, was thinking about it to by this rifle as a christmas present for you
but
you don't like it.

I will take it Lancaster. Barrel length is not a concern I hold.

The 6.5x68 needs a long barrel to burn all the powder and achieve the velocity it is supposed to get. 26"/650 mm.

Nothing to do with "looks".

And not being worried about barrel length? "Magnum" cartridges with too short barrels? Better just use a 6.5/06 or a 6.5x55.

Yep second that, the 7mm Rem Mag is a hell of a cartridge in a 26" barrel, put it in a 22" barrel might, as well shoot 270 Winchesters and save the money.

I had a 22" bl'd .264 Win. M70A. The best it would do with the same 120 XLC I used in the .260 CLC was 3,350fps, but it took 25gr. MORE powder to do it. I rebarrelled that one to .458 Alaskan, another hairbrained wildcat I dreamed up. He'll of a good ctg.but not much better than the .458 Winnie7.

In the "African" model, a 6.5x68, an interesting choice of cartridge for Africa. I'd think it is more of an open plains game choice. Springbok at a distance.

The long stock "African" bushveld rifle styling, was something Harold Wolf discussed in a "Hatari Times" article. He created a similarly stocked rifle. I think in .458 or 9.3? He argued the full stock was a good design for a "jungle" carbine. And a decent wide calibre choice.
