Very nice Rigby, 2 Barrel set? I couldn't make out the reasoning in the description. A mate just received one similar from Holts auction. The takedown mechanism is very nicely done.

Maybe one throated for 140 gr. bullet, the other throated for the 175Gr.??

That's what crossed my mind. Pretty serious flex if so.

Seems a real contradiction this one!
A mixture of old & new as well as a .303 in a Mauser rifle, no offence intended to our British & German friends!
Is the mount soldered to the action by the way?

I never knew till now that Rigby made sporting rifles sighted for a "special high velocity" .303 cartridge.
Probly just had my head up my Rse...
Should have guessed though, given their 140gr .275 loading.
That's another headstamp I will need to track down for the Vintage British Sporting cartridge collection!
Thanks for posting, lancaster.

Finnish police auction 5.6.2025 at Riihimäki, lot number 136, "Mauser 98 kurtz full stock .250-3000 Savage".

https://poliisi.fi/documents/25235045/30...t=1745925966207

I hope someone will offer something. Since it is not an old military rifle, Sako or Tikka, it is very hard to see huge competition about it. Un sold guns will be destroyed by police.
Im planning trip to check some shotguns, but no time to get license for .250 Savage.

maybe 4-5 week ago a friend from finland send me pics of a kurz mauser in 250 -3000. maybe you know him - cristian alias bokmal? the mauser was for sale but imho, the owner very old had it still on licence. I forwarded the pics to kuduae because he is the specialist for this and he confirmed it was a very early post ww 1 mauser made in 1919/20. finnish modification was a straigt bolt handle maybe for better handling with thick glowes in winter time. I have trouble with my email account so can't show the pics of this rifle here.
if you don't have a licence just now it would be worth to park the rifle on a dealers licence.

Here you are:

I just pondering if the original bolt handle has been flat, such as some full stock mausers have ?

kuduae says it was made later in finland. could not be another bolt because its a kurz action!

this is another rifle here SN 83356

the rifle in the police auction have SN 89060

strange that two mauser's in this rare caliber come to the market in finland the same time

btw, the full stock is nice and iirc, it have a 65 or 70 cm long barrel

Yes, indeed. I was sure it would be the same rifle.
