this 404 Jef. looks also like a FN 10,75x68 was taken and rechamber into a 404 whats not a big problem. notice the style of the bolt handle, the rear sight and the position of the serial number on barrel and receiver.
the stock is not the very best replacement of the original one.

Yeah funny position of the numbers. Is that heavy grime on the front ring and Knox or marks from heavy use?

Here’s what looks like (?) an original Type B, molestered by some Neanderthal by rebarreling to 308 and altering the bolt handle. Either that or maybe a replacement bolt handle. Not quite sure what he means by short action - could it be a kurz? Or just an intermediate?

The 10.75x68 would be an awesome beast!
Looks like the scope is not original (perhaps a second) - as in it uses a barrel mount for its front legs not the mount on the front of the action.

imho, it had a second scope maybe a light 4x and it looks to me like this was original to

another unmarked but vintage mauser in 8x57 I from Suhl https://auctionet.com/de/3841488-98-kal-8-x-57i-27860-se0205488

notice the lines for the shot elk on the stock

beside of the big supley of Husqvarna rifles in 9,3x57 https://intersurplus.com/collections/9-3x57 for a real discount price (recommend you to buy ) there are some german made mauser 98 rifles in 9,3x57 showing how german dealer jump on the train when this caliber became popular in sweden.

export by geco to sweden, made in suhl 9,3x57

https://intersurplus.com/collections/9-3x57/products/geco-m98-in-9-3x57-1

geco 9,3x57

geco 9,3x57
https://intersurplus.com/collections/9-3x57/products/geco-fn98-in-9-3x57

this are basic rifles, real working guns who had to compete with the local made cheaper husqvarna rifles( no tax because made in sweden) than. geco was than a big gun exporter and in the bad 1930s when money was scarce you had a hard time to sell new guns. to get a good price was only possible because they had surplus actions from the great war on stock.

I bet you a pound this not a 9,3x57 https://intersurplus.com/collections/9-3x57/products/schmidt-rubin-sporter-in-9-3x57 but a very rare 9,3x53 Swiss

butchered 9,3x62 but not to late to rescue it, SN 24158
