Sambar Pack Hunt

I had a very successful exploratory backpack hunt into the Alpine national park 2 weeks ago. We picked an area on the map and went for it and was lucky enough to find a nice stag and view 5 other younger animals along the way.

We got some great footage through the new STX 30-70x95mm Swarovski scope with camera adapter on it. I also got some decent footage of a young stag and cast stag also.

The temps were interesting for this time of year with a -3 night and huge frost. Followed by some hail and a bit of snow.

It was an excellent hunt with mates as we found some new spots, had a good walk with the packs and managed to find some animals whilst just enjoying the surroundings at 1600m.

Plenty of gear for the trip

For the backpack component just the bare essentials, tent, bag, food, cooking gear, epirb and water as we didn't know if we would have a water source. Unfortunately the esky had to stay behind.
