Finally got around to taking the 1910 Mannlicher-Schoenauer out for some fresh air the other day. I had intended modifying the trigger to single-stage before taking it afield, but in the end I succumbed to the "stuff-it" philosophy and pressed on regardless. Luckily I was able to make a few careful shots that allowed my brain to accommodate the two-stage pull, and the hunt ended well.
Couldn't find a buffalo worth shooting on the day, but did manage a decent "bomb-up" on a mob of pigs. No tusks worth taking unfortunately, mostly big sows, but tremendous fun!
Good to read the story. In foolishness I passed up a similar rifle many years ago, shortly after breaking the bank buying my Jeffery double. Needless to say, I regret it!
