Yes, it's good to see this thread bubble back up. The Rigby single shot is still a proud member of my collection. It is a pleasure to shoot and delightful to handle.

Thanks for all the kind words!

Curly

A superb little rifle with wonderful wood. Fancy but not gaudy figure. Lovely.

Great to hear you got everything purring along CC- including the cat!
Marvellous little rifle indeed.
Did you disclose your 'whatever' load, or is that still under wraps for the .40-70?

My "whatever" load is chronicled above:

My load is:
* 70 gr. of Olde Eynsford 2F, the powder compressed just below the base of the neck;
* a beeswax foundation wad set on the powder;
* a 3/16" thick grease cookie;
* 330 gr. swaged .399" paper patched bullet;
* WLR primer;
* 2.925" OAL.

This load is accurate and does not foul the barrel. It chronographs at 1521 fps.

I think this is a "factory duplication load."

Wonderful to hear mate - especially the accurate & non fouling part!
Well done repeating history!
