Yes, it's good to see this thread bubble back up. The Rigby single shot is still a proud member of my collection. It is a pleasure to shoot and delightful to handle.

Great to hear you got everything purring along CC- including the cat! Marvellous little rifle indeed. Did you disclose your 'whatever' load, or is that still under wraps for the .40-70?

My "whatever" load is chronicled above:
My load is: * 70 gr. of Olde Eynsford 2F, the powder compressed just below the base of the neck; * a beeswax foundation wad set on the powder; * a 3/16" thick grease cookie; * 330 gr. swaged .399" paper patched bullet; * WLR primer; * 2.925" OAL.
This load is accurate and does not foul the barrel. It chronographs at 1521 fps.
I think this is a "factory duplication load."
