Why would someone put something so graphic on You Tube?

You're not doing the hunting fraternity any favours mate.

I do plenty GG375 for the hunting fraternity I dare say more than you but I wont bend over to the PETA sentiments either. It shows a clean kill how it should be done, get off your high horse. Last time I checked this is a hunting forum where we share all hunting stories, pics and videos a like.

I disagree mate.
Its a feral animal killed humainly.
Just happens to be on video.

I only deleted it because Mick asked me to.
Shame imo.
On another web site it has gone 3 pages.
Wonder why we struggle for "active" members.

Some times the pictures get that way - especially when shooting vermin. The varmint sites I attend try to keep the worse of it down but there are times when a bit of mung creeps into a video. The video "nothing but chunks" comes to mind.
When I saw the title, I thought, yes, a .300 WSM will kill a fox, if you hit him right - then, 'probably messy', but there was no video. I was surprised to see it had been removed.

Watched it elsewhere & it was as humane as you'd ever see.

Given some of the other crap that's on YouTube I can't see an issue.

Keep up the good work Mick.

Mick

FWIW I think you made the right decision (for NE) by organising for the removal of the video clip. In
my experience NE has always tried to maintain a tasteful approach to our sport and I don't think that
particular clip fell within that category.

Video of feral animal destruction - I get.

Video showing a well placed shot - I get.

Repeated slo mo action of an animals head exploding as a result of impact by a high velocity
projectile - I don’t get. I think that is best left off this site.

Most of us here are experienced hunters – we know what happens when a high velocity projectile
hits a soft object. I personally hate the blood and gore and nervous kicking associated with head
shots and will go for a chest shot every time if I have the choice.

At the end of the day tho – these are just my opinions – the opinions of one member. If the majority
of members are comfortable with this stuff and want it on the site, and John sanctions it then go for
it. I will just try to avoid it as best I can.

Cheers and no offence meant.

GG

I think you are dead wrong and guilty of double standards.

If Joe Blow was to go to Africa and shoot an Elephant in the head and have it on video,as well as slow mo everyone would say "great footage, thanks for sharing". .

Chest shots make you feel better ........please.
A head shot and its all over. We know how long an animal can carry a well placed chest shot.

I think you are a long way off the money on this one and I'm sick of pandering to the do gooder wankers.

Pity I didn't get to see it!

I've got no problem it being removed as the member posting it requested it, nor it staying up, even though I didn't see it.

Have been away working away from home for several days.

I imagine it is still on youtube anyway, and that is a far more public venue than NE. Also probably on Mick's own FB pages I would guess.

Sometimes I do cringe at really bloody photos, but don't think I've ever "edited" or "censored" any. Printed magazines routinely do this sort of thing, as it can impact on the sport, with the PETA sorts exposing those sorts of photos for a media stunt. Lots of non-hunting people see only the gore and being disconnected from real natural life, see cruelty etc. A foxes head exploding from a large bullet is obviously not cruel, as it is a quick death.

Unlike 1080 poison which is often used by greenies against foxes and other pests (eg in National Parks and other gov't lands) and which is incredibly cruel.

Also NE is a truly international forum, and people from different places have different opinions and cultures. I recently mentioned using a spotlight to kill some escaped deer and also shoot some foxes. Talking to a European hunter (no one on these forums btw) all they could fixate on was the spotlight. The deer were farm escapes not wild. And as us Aussies know, foxes are a pest here. I prefer to hunt them in daylight, but will shoot them by spotlight as well. Another German hunter, said he had no problem, do as the locals do, in different places.

Just making some comments on the debate above, not taking any sides.
