has anyone used one of these actions for sale as rough component supply from Piotti? If so can we get a report on them?

Never used them, but knowing the finished product Piotti offers, they would be first class.

I have used barrels from Effebi, they are well finished and the heat treat on them is spot on. Effebi offers rough components as well.

Haven't used their rough parts. The barrels are nice. Very well polished in the bores, excellent turn around time and teh average cost to my door was about $160 per barrel. I had to order 10 at a time, and have .410 and 28 tubes left over for future use.

From what I have seen, the Italian makers use top notch machines and they seem to get the job done effeciently. I wouldn't be worried about the quality, but understand you will need to do the final hand fitting of the parts. Look up Effebi, Email them for a price list. Mr. Frano Berretta is who I exchanged emails with. They have all of the parts needed for a break action sidelock.

I'bbe be there in AUG next year. From what I've seen and heard the finished product is something else! (Ref Fucili d'Autore)
