BSA No 4C (Bush Pattern) Carbine
      #217337 - 29/09/12 07:16 AM

I have recently acquired an excellent BSA Sporter that I have not yet seen mentioned or pictured on this forum although I am sure that at least some of you have come across one. As near as I can tell from a 1930 BSA catalogue it is the No4C carbine built on a No1MkIII action. My guess is that it is a 1920's vintage. The wood work is of a higher quality than the typical No4 pattern sporting rifle. Does anyone else have one, know more about them and/or have pictures to share? I'll post pictures and the full story later.

So Here's my first attempt at uploading a picture to this forum. If this works, I'll do more.
Here goes!

So at last here's the story on my No4C carbine. This is also my first attempt at uploading pictures so I hope it works.

I acquired this rifle from a friend who is helping me to source parts for a .375/303 Lee Speed recreation on a Long Lee action (this will be the subject of another thread as it goes along).

The rifle is like new in all regards but two: the elevation pointer on the Lyman 48 is damaged and the 100yd leaf of the backsight has been filed down so as to not interfere with the sight picture through the Lyman.

This rifle, according to a BSA 1930 catalogue is a No4C carbine (Bush Pattern) with a 20 1/2 " barrel and chequered best French walnut stock

On the subject of Lyman sights, I see that the rifle pictured in Story's post (I believe it is a BSA No4B rifle, by the way) has a Lyman 48 installed in a very professional way. The insatllation on my rifle is also professionally done which causes me to wonder if BSA was offering them as an option from the factory. There is no mention of this in their catalogues. Has anyone else run across this?

So, hopefully, here are the pictures:

leeenfielf,

You need to actually select an actual graphics file. They generally end with .jpg or .gif . The other filenames are often actually web references, and possibly have "commands" in the address line. If so, sometimes editing the web address to remove the stuff after the .gif or .jpg sometimes works.

Generally right clicking on an image and selecting properties or view image info can reveal the image web address. Or selecting "copy image location" as in firefox.
