Alaskan Interior Griz ..
      #217324 - 28/09/12 11:52 PM

Friend of mine took this a couple weeks ago in AK..used his 300 Ultra shooting 200 GR A-Frames..One shot..went about 40 yards ..tipped over...

Per his info, this bear was just a tad over 9ft squared..

Nice bear. 9' is very good for an inland grizzly.

Great animal, and beautiful country. I wonder how long that barrel is? A proper long distance rifle, by the looks.

The gun is a HS Precision --with the brake its 28"..which for me is too long..I have the same rifle without the brake..so 26" which is about what it needed to burn up all the powder in that 300 Ultra...

thx

Nice Bear.

I would find 28" to be to long. 26" is more than long enough fro me.

I like the 26 bl. on my .375 but 28" would be too long for me in a hunting rifle. I do have 28" bl. on my metalic sighted 300 meter prone rifle though - that's nice!

Agree..think a 28"on a hunting rifle is way too long..actually prefer a 24 on most when I am hiking through the forest and a 22" when in Africa as most shots are relatively close and I find it quicker in the really thick stuff...

I read a test in test several years ago and if memory serves me correctly, there was not that much of a difference on teh 300 Ultra from a 28 to 26" barrel..but from a 26 to a 24" the difference was significant...
