Interesting for sure. If you intend to go into the back country broken down would carry easily and allow for food gathering.

Some interesting accessorising by adding things in and on the stock.

Such as:
leatherman tool;
compass;
bottle opener;
chamber conversion adapters,
dual laser/flasklight-torch;
spare parts;
ammo carrier;
firesteel fire starter;
solar powered trijicon sight etc.

A ready to GO gun.

Thanks for posting.

We had these Stoeger coach guns come into Aust a while ago, but the accessorising of this one is quite cool.

Was actually thinking it would be a good item to keep under the bed at home as well...kill 2 birds with one stone..pun intended....

Agree the accessories available make it an appealing weapon...

Adding accessories like that could work with a lot of firearms.

Looks heavy and bulky. I prefer something that can be concealed.

The Savage Model 24 was also made in 30-30/20 gauge configuration. That gun would be more suited for survival than a double that has a doubtful record the Stoeger double has. And the owner can mount a scope on it.

How well are the barrels regulated on the double defense, where do the patterns hit at forty yards.

In a HD situation were ranges are measured in feet who care's where the shot charge strikes. At longer distances that's another story.

My "answer" for the Survival question has been the same.
1st is I don't care what I have, I will find and take what is necessary. If there is some great world technology/infrastructure breakdown, It may happen suddenly and leave most totally unprepared....i.e.......away from your stash or firearms or loved ones. Hence I will just figure it out as it unfolds.

2nd answer has always been that if I am prepared and know of the situation where the I have bug out bags and firepower to get to my systematic stash thorough the country, in 30 locations. For that I will pick a AR or AK in .223 or 7.62x39 respective. Able to feed them where ever I am picking up magazines

Shelter, water and fuel will be of far bigger concerns that what firearm you have. Actually firearms never warrant more than passing interest in any of our course matter.

Interesting, I wonder if the London firms have thought about offering any of these upgrades to their current guns - bespoken survival gun

Cheers

I don't think there is any such thing as a "survival guns" any more than I think there are "Evil Guns”, "Righteous Guns", "Communist Guns" or "Gangster Guns"

There are guns used by survivors of bad situations. But the gun is the smallest part of the equation. The person and his or her mind set and skill are the 2 things that matter.

“Survival” is too broad a term. What does it mean? It means staying alive.
However it doesn’t mean any specific dangerous situation.

If you survive the impact of a plane crash in on top of the Andes you will need to do a lot of things different than if you survive a plane crash in North Korea.
In both these situations you need help from friends far more than you need any gun.

To survive in the Rocky Mountains with a broken foot for 2 weeks until you are found, you’d want a different kind of rifle than you would if you were trapped in LA California for 2 weeks during a total civil melt down, or along the Arizona border during an invasion by 100 Illegal aliens who want to take your home your food and your life.

To my way of thinking there are really only 2 applications for firearms in “survival situations”
#1 is hunting ( but hunting what?)
#2 is fighting. ( but fighting who or what?)

It’s an interesting subject to compare the attributes of different arms which may cover the bases of both #1 and #2.

But I think we should leave the title “survival gun” behind. It’s not really a valid moniker.
