Last week I made a runaway to the west of Spain to take one. Is not and easy trophy and, as a Ram, is always nice.

Here is ;.

Nice Ram. What did you age him?

Very nice ram. You must be happy.

Tell us more and also about your rifle and equipment.

Very cool! Are only the rams hunted? Was it a hunt specifically for mouflon, or was other game also possible/allowed?

Erik

I didn't age him. This kind of hunting must be done with a guide with you, so he knows which one is the biggest around.

It was a stalk hunt. From 9 to 17:30, near the dusk. There was 4 rams (2 males & 2 females) walking away and I shooted him from about 150 yards.
My gun is a Brno single shot, 6.5x57R and this time I used a RWS 93 grains T-Mantel.

In this ranch there're red deers, roe deers, fallows, Ibex and boars too. Is about 200 km South East from Madrid and the owner is a friend of mine so you can hunt there if you want

A 93 gr T-mantel. That's a light bullet for ram. Sounds perfect for chamois though.

The only sheep I have taken is a wild New Zealand merino, perhaps it could be called an Arapawa Ram. It is supposed to be a very good specimen but it looks all nice and clean now after the taxidermist cleaned it up. Prior to that it was very dark with grime and burrs from a wild life away from Kiwi farmers.

Nitrox,i've taken horned sheep(ram)with a 243,100gr.bullet at 200 yds.but i feel much more comfortable when i'm using a 270(130grs.) or a 7mm.mag.(150grs.)I've also taken ibex with a 243 but only out of neccesity and would prefer a larger caliber. With a caliber like a 243 you have to be very accurate while placing the shot as in the mountains you may not get a second one if you don't drop the animal with the first one. However with a 7mm.mag.even if you don't hit a vital organ you cause enough damage to maybe slow down the animal thus giving you another chance.
