Hi All, I am getting together a Greener GP to use as Bore rifle (maybe one day I will find an original GP paradox barrel). I know rolled plastic hulls are the way to go, but i have to scratch this itch (i have had it for the last 30 years). So what is the best way to seat fosbury slugs in brass hulls?

do you mean the best or the cheapest?
the best way for a brass case is a reloading die set. ch4d make such die's http://www.ch4d.com/catalog/dies/caliber-list?page=3
see 12 ga brass shotshell.
tell ch4d what you need and you will get the right thing.
the magtech brass case is to hard so its necessary to aneal it.

Ideally your brass case should be inletted at the mouth to just accept your sized bullet and seat it at the proper depth. You can use a simple stab crimp to hold it in place. You can have a crimp die made to turn the case into the bullet or star crimp it. If the bullet falls to the bottom of your case you will have to use wads to seat at the proper depth.

Hi thanks for the info. When talking about the best I meant the most effective in terms of quality. The brass is new Kynoch unsized or trimmed to size. I was interested in all methods and experiences to achieve good results. Cheers -k

Having built a 2 3/4inch chambered 12 bore I too wished to shoot brass cases, the trick is obtaining them. The only place I found was Rocky Mountain Cartridge Company, however no replies were received when contacted. Plenty of 2 1/2 inch cases available but need 2 3/4" to avoid any problems. If anyone has brass available or knows where I can obtain them and replies would be appreciated.

Hi, Kynoch currently have a stock of 12g brass. You will need a crimping tool and they are large pistol primer pockets. Cheers K

Is the new Kynoch brass like the old paradox brass cases? That is paper lined so the case wall thickness is really that of paper? Most of the brass out there is the thin wall type, not really suited for actual 12 gauge bore diameters (.729-.735). The only reason to use brass cases is if your bore is oversized. Many mistake brass cases as period correct. Thin brass is actually only correct for the larger bore diameter for your particular gauge.

For example, an unlined 16 bore Magtec brass case, easily holds a 13 bore bullet or ball with 14 bore wads taking up the space. The 13 bore ball (.705") is WAY too big for a normal sized 16 bore gun (.662"), but will chamber in a normal 16 bore chamber. To fire such a ctg. it would/could be dangerous.
A 16 bore paper or plastic case is the correct size inside for a 16 bore bullet or ball.
The 'same' differences/problems would be normal for 12 bore cases.
