Is it customary to be lined up single file with the trackers out front when following up a buff?
Seems like a good way to get the PH and/or the tracker killed in an event such as this.

Must be as you see it on a few videos.

However on some other videos of Lion charges etc,
they are line abreast so all could shoot safely.

Anyone with experiences of Africa that can shed more
light on this ?

Is it because they want to protect the client ?

Looks like the best protection for all involved was to leave the client in the truck!

The PH is lucky to still have an elbow.

A PH I hunted with had a crease on his scalp from a client's bullet when a lion charged.

I wonder which bullet dropped the bull though in front of the PH's feet? Too hard to tell.

On a long slow stalk (more like a crawl) on a very large Water Buffalo Bull in the NT, the PH asked "What are you going to do if he charges" !!!

It was funny at the time as we had just started the stalk
and things were pretty tense to say the least.

Agree on all counts. If it was the clients bullet that stopped that charge I am guessing the PH gave him a pass. I once had a PH get a bit annoyed when I fired five feet to his left three feet behind him. I had to politely remind of the shot he fired from 10 feet behind me (probably three feet to my right) two days before. We were both wrong, of course.
