This knife is supposed to keep its sharpness almost forever, and if need be can be resharpened for free??

evercut

Do miracles happen?

Well I actually purchased a set of Miracle Blade's,
the one's advertised on TV that have scalloped edges
- similar but not the same as Spyderco's.

The set plus block was going cheap in a shop
and since I knew Spyderco's keep their edge
- which is why climbers / ropers carry them
- I decided to give them a go.

Well, after a few years, they are still sharp
and still cut well.

So their is suck as thing as a stay sharp knife,
whether this one does is another story.

Would also like to try one.

Yes - will have to wait for a distributor in Canada. They do sound amazing, however I get my Henkel's sharpened professionally, for free. My bro is the pro - when he's finished, they are as just about as sharp as obsidian - scary sharp.

I was talking to my brother about this. Taylor has a sharpening business in town.

He said, such a knife would be great, however that material is needed on 2 blade broadheads - he's right.

They are the devil to keep sharp enough - being in and out of a quiver all the time, dulls them.

A 1/2 dozen, 1 1/8" to 1 3/16" wide X 2" long broadheads of that material could sell for $20.00 or $30.00 each, maybe more, if they did not need sharpening and didn't get dull for several years just from carrying them in a quiver.

I remain skeptical though resharpening is just costing a couple of stamps.
I prefer a knife or BH made of soft steel that can be resharpened on the spot. After all it's no big deal. Not so with hard steel.
I usually struggle with Sheffield steel and Scandinavian steel.
Conversely our local (not high end) knives could be resharpened most easily and quickly.

especially with the OPINEL

I know a keeper that is using only an Opinel for emptying wild boars. As soon as a boar is finished, he uses a pebble for resharpening the Opinal and it works perfectly.

We must remaikn skeptical until they are proven one way or the other - is all.

The US made buck knives are usually difficult for many people to sharpen well.

The crossed sticks mounted on a board - not the white straight ceramic ones but the sticks with dark grey finish called "Alumina" or some such, can do a very good job of sharpening about any knives I've tried and can do it quickly - to a razor sharp edge.

My own buck knife, with a 5" blade (I broke 3/8" off - foolishly), can do 2 moose without the need of a touchup until finished. On a 2 year olds or younger, that includes using the knife to cut (not pound through) the sternum from neck to gut.
