Mike

Effectively, making a whole swathe of sea like the National Parks on land.

Some areas need it but a lot of it has gone way too far,
especially for recreational fishing.

Well done for signing the petition.

Part of the Greens and their Socialist Labor Gov't monkeys on a string's plan to cut off "exploitation" of large areas of our seas ...

I believe the Shooters and Fishers Party guys were working against large areas of the NSW coast which were to be closed off. Including to recreational fishermen. One reason the sporting fishermen need to support the S&F Party which actually has runs on the board in terms of Parliamentary representation, favourable legislation etc instead of the many wannabe fishing parties ...

South Australia I believe set aside some large areas of the Great Australian Bight South of the Nullabor Plain as fishing reserves. Not sure if it was just commercial fishing free or recreational fishing as well. Fairly far off from most population areas though.

The Greens may have over-reached themselves on this one.

There are far more fishos than hunters, and once they start waking up to the fact that they are no more immune from politically-correct restrictions than hunters, Shooters and Fishers party may end up with far more clout than the animal-crackers and gun-grabbers ever anticipated.

From what I have seen, some fishermen can be more anti-gun than the Greens.

When I see that, I love to play devils-advocate and argue that isn't "catch and release" cruelty and animal-fish torture ...

Some of these fishermen are such sanctimonious hypocritical pricks ... us hunters are all perfect however.

Hopefully fishing is put under real threat. But only because it may wake up the sporting fisherman like the hunter and shooter has been woken up or at least to a half sleep ...
