The slaughter of Kenya's elephants continues today
      #212076 - 05/07/12 01:57 AM

An example of the stupid stunts "conservationists" will resort to, the burning of 120 tonnes of elephant ivory (and wood) to highlight Kenya's incompetence in conserving elephants and its push to ban the ivory trade.

The destruction of Kenya's elephant herds started with the BANNING of SPORTING HUNTING in Kenya, allowing the poachers free reign. Which continues today.

But see here on these links the "other" sides opinions ...

I just...don't understand.

Even reading the article I can't see why they'd burn it. The only people who'd hear of this stand would be othe greens - who don't need the message they're trying to convey.

Wouldn't mind some ivory.

The method the greens want for conservation has never worked and never will.

Place a value on something and people take an interest in it and make sure the animal/item is protected to some degree.

I think that photo is quite old---- or if it isn't, there is a similar photo from years ago

Yes the photo is quite old, as was the event, 1990's sometime as a guess???

However I find it quite ironic, on one hand these morons are moaning about the slaughter / poaching of African elephant, especially in Kenya. On the other hand they are bragging about their burning of ivory, the ban of the trade in ivory .... which obviously was a failed policy and strategy.

It is not only the ostriche that sticks its head in the sand so as not to see reality.
