A friend is sent off with style ...
      #209911 - 03/06/12 03:15 AM

Benedict Wormald posted the following photo on my fb page and wrote the following:

"My Father (the chap with the white hair and double rifle) and The Express Rifle Club of Great Britain giving a Smoke filled salute to their dearly departed friend Derek! Old school smoke filled nonsense!

Not to better their other friend who ashes were loaded with shot into Game Cartridges and used by his Wife and Sons in the last Pheasant Drive of the season on their estate......."

Better than being cast into the wind, a friend remembered by keen friends and fellow club members.

And what a top way of sending off the ashes on a pheasant shoot.

The pheasant shoot surprised me. Well done! I heartedly approve of this type of fairwell.

Before our dear friend Peter Nocholson, a fine English Gentleman left us, he asked that after he passed we discharge his ashes from his cannon over and across the field at Rendezvous B.C. That annual 10 day rendezvous was his favourite event and get-to-gether with friends. Peter had many.

We aquiessed to his request, alwasy at 9PM on Wednesday evening while toasting Peter with his favourite beverage- Rusty Nails. The local (host) club where we had the shoot for over 20years, stopped the cannon shooting and competition using insurance problems as an excuse. We found this was BullSh. Seems some of their memebers didn't like cannons, I guess. Considering this Rendezvous made a chunk of money for their club - approximately, $3,800 per year's 10 day event in which we supply all our own targets and frames if we move venues, their loss.
