Dont try this at home Kids.
      #207531 - 22/04/12 09:40 PM

I went for a quick hunt Saturday with the 4 wheeler and my two dogs.
Vanders was coming out after lunch for an overnight hunt on his way to Roma for work.

I got three pigs straight up and all was going well until I lost "George". I lost communication with him on the tracking collars and couldn't pick up the signal again.
That was at about 8.30am and I never found him until 6.45pm.

While looking for him I managed to hit an old steel post that the Dozer didn't take out.
It grabbed the under carriage and flipped the bike and sent me over the handle bars and after doing two rolls myself came to a stop.(lucky I'm part Ninja).
Here is the steel post after I hit it.

I drove the barrel of the Zastava into the ground but it looked OK as did the Loopy scope.

Quick photo of the bike and then put it back on its wheels for 10mins to let the oil run back into the sump.

Went up to the Cocky's house and blew the dirt out with the compressor then a couple of passes with the "Bore snake" and it was good to go.

We were to go to another place and camp but I was running out of time so I got Vanders to come down to me. He fired a shot out of the Zastava and found it to be shooting straight. (Lucky it was a Leupold and a Zastava as I dont think a Swarvo and Sako would have handled it)

Took Vanders for a hunt and we got another 4 pigs with this being his best boar with the 7-08.

We found George sitting on my jumper where I left it about 2kms from where I lost him.
This was a huge relief as there isn't a bigger sin than to lose a dog on a property.

We got home, had some tea, loaded the swags and headed an hour up the road.
Shot a couple of cats and saw a few pigs on the way in.

Got up before daylight and road the boundary fence where the pigs are padding through to a failed grain crop.
We saw one pig zip through the fence but didn't get a shot.

Duke caught this little ginger boar.

We both looked up the fence line to see a mob of pigs coming through the fence Indian file.
After some stunt riding by me with Vanders on the back (keep in mind I flipped this bike the day before) I managed to wheel the mob onto a clay pan where the fun started.
We guessed there were 25 pigs in the mob and we got 15 out of them.

Here is a couple Vanders nailed.

Vanders wanted a goat for meat to take home so I took him to where I knew some were.
I said "shoot that biggest white Kid".

Here is what he ended up with. Three for one shot, but he did head shoot the first one.
140 grain Corelokts in the 7mm08.

Dressed it out and while it cooled down we went down to the dam where we got another two pigs.

I was useing Lapua 9.3,285 grain bullets and they went very well.

Good show Fatty!

I didn't know you were a rodeo clown too.
I've gone all night chasing after hounds, funny the things you'll find along the way...

Cheers

Good story, Neale - looks like that bullet holds together well with close shooting.
Glad you found George - or he found you/your jumper.

(there must be a cultural/language difference concerning jumpers. Here, only little girls wear 'jumpers')

Glad you are OK.

I went ass over tit once and drive my Westkey Richards 318 into the dirt. The same trip a mate hit a fence at high speed
- he was skidding at the time as he had just seen it - and sent his bike over like yours.

Horses, motorbikes and quads are all killers.

Those Lapua Megas do alright eh ! Dare I say it, cheaper than Woodleighs. (wash my mouth out)

I have caught up with a few of my dogs over the years by leaving my chungs behind, they love dirty chungs Neale and find `em easier
A good dog will stay with them for a few days before he eats em too ha ha.
Thats a top day for you and vanders, many of the members never get to see quantity over quality eh.

Bring that quad down here into the hills for your sambar hunting mate,if you can roll her on the flat you will do it every day here.I have flipped and rolled both of mine a few times, dropping a wheel in a wombat burrow on a hill is the go!

A great day out for you both..10/10
