Simson-Suhl buttplate
      #206223 - 30/03/12 04:09 PM

I have picked up a nice old Simson-Suhl 12 gage shotgun that I am cleaning up. I need to locate a buttplate as it is missing. Its a curved butt measuring 13 X 40 mm. Any ideas where a person might look to find one. The stock is a nice piece of walnut and I don't want to ding it up any worse.

If I remember right, Midway carries a line of new-made reproduction buttplates. Check Ebay too, you never know, sometimes that works out.

It is marked 6/31 so I assume its a June 1931.

Found a butt plate but it is not quite the same curvature, any recommendations on how to bend a horn buttplate. I did a google search and looked through all my books but came up with nothing.
Boy if it ain't one thing its another.

Sorry for my humour. Yours is probably far superior to mine.

I have a bunch of plastic butt plates if you ever need anymore. The horn was hiding in a box were it did not belong. I have no idea who comes in at night and messes up my shop.
