Last year buff hunt (photos added)
      #205989 - 26/03/12 02:57 PM

After a little bit of swearing and scratching my head, the penny finally dropped (like a sledge hammer). There's no stopping me now...

I must be an I.T. retard. I just can't get the posting of photos happening...

Anyway... it scored 104 points. My mate was really keen to get one over the 100 points before he leaves the nt so I helped him out. I scored a buff of 99 points with a (very) cresent shape to them.

I'll try and post again and see how i go.

by golly gee, i think i finally did it...

My mate used his Brno 458wm (hogback style stock - top photo) and I used my trusty Brno 458wm.

My friend was using winchester factory loads and i had hand loads using 500gn Woodleighs SN which a bloke in Canberra loaded for me a few years back (don't know what/how much powder). This guy used to load all my rounds including 416 Rigby, heaps of 458 and even another mate's 45-70 rounds. Did a great job. Never once had any problems.

Cheers, Doc. I have yet to use my M70 .458WM on buffalo, but am very pleased with my loads so far: 500 grain Woodleighs on top of 70 grains of 2206H (quite conservative), WLRM primers, with softs clocked last year at about 2060fps, and solids clocked the other day at 2090fps.

If I see a post with the photo display code not working on posts I try to fix it. So leave the image code there. I have to see it though. But you've worked it out anyway, so good.

A couple of great water buff bulls there.

Were they inland or coastal buffalo?

Both bulls are excellent trophies and nice to see a wider one and a more crescent one as a contrast. The wide one must look huge in real life to score so well too.

Both buff were coastal. My buffalo was just above the flood plains in some nice cool cover.
