Pairs of locks
      #204237 - 02/03/12 07:35 AM

Who offers pairs (lefts and rights) of curved back action locks, as found on pistol-grip guns and rifles?

I checked EJ Blackey and Son, emailed them asking, and found out they do not.

Who else?
Anyone know of a Brit or European gunmaker who'd have buckets of old spares from scrapped guns or rifles?

Cheers

Without checking I'm not sure but try the < Track of the Wolf > site - they are into that sort of stuff and my dealings with them has been positive. --- John303.

Nothing like it at Track, only the L&R brand straight contour back action locks.

I want curved, as found on Victorian era Brit (and euro) rifles with pistol-grip stock.

Saw a couple pair of back action sidelocks on Ebay a few days ago under "shotgun barrels/parts". Not sure when the auctions end/ended.

Ellis-

Thanks.
Saw those, they're straight not curved.
I'd be happy to hear if anyone sees/finds/has a pair of curved locks for sale.

Cheers

Finding spare parts? Not sure if it is what you are looking for, but one place to get "spare parts" is some of the UK auctions. A lot of shotguns which don't meet modern specifications get their barrels cut open, drilled etc. The gun sells for very low prices, but could be a source of parts or a custom project such as a shotgun/rifle conversion.

Tinker,

Give me a email or call, I'll be building some new dolphin shaped back action locks for the SxS 2 Bore project in the near future, it wouldn't really be that much more work for me to make a couple extras.

Colin thanks for the offer, I'm hoping to find Victorian vintage parts.

Curl, I've been buried in work and I have a big backlog of projects that have gone feral. I've pitched the request to friends in London. Perhaps that will pan out at some time.

Cheers

Welcome aboard Crusader!

Funny that's got to be a Belgium shotty using the 'W. Richards' name making some unsuspecting schmuck think he's getting the quality of a 'Westley Richards'.
