It would be great if Sabatti would overcome their production issues.

I hope they can.

Would make a very nice affordable and usable double rifle.

Another of our members is acquiring a Sabatti. I hope he posts a positive outcome.

Regarding the .375 Flanged. Would make a great medium game rifle, capable of the big stuff. I wonder what bullet they are using to regulate it for? Hopefully 300 grs.

The .375 Fl is listed on the website.

HogPilot

Agree.

How about they fix how they make / regulate the things first
before they start on new calibres.

They will sell a lot more that way.

Yea 500. I don't know that they'll ever overcome the stigma at this point. Here is a picture of a Sabatti 450/400 that an AR friend asked me to inspect for him at the Buda, Texas Cabelas store. This one was advertised as a "repaired" rifle. If anyone thinks the problems are behind Sabatti and Cabelas at this point, take note that this picture was taken in the Cabelas store on Monday, 30 Jan., 2012; just about 3 weeks ago.

Take a look at the right barrel. If you're having a problem convincing yourself, rotate the view 90 degrees counter clockwise.

As always - buyer beware.

But if one checks the muzzles on a rifle BEFORE buying and it has not been ground I wonder if that means there is a chance it might shoot somewhat well enough?

John

It seems that some test targets of non ground rifles are not a true representation of the gun.

However, I have to acknowledge that if someone buys an unground gun and it does shoot, they are unlikely to say negative things about it !!!

But Cabellas (here stateside) will refund if it doesn't work properly.
The one and only one I've shot works quite well. A 45-70.

My Sabbitti 9.3 works quite well . I am probaly close to 150 rounds through her . I would love to have one in .375 Fl . I think IF I ever get crafty enough to build a monoblock , then I will make an extra barrel set in .375 Fl .

The 375 Flanged is very close to your 9.3.. Imo it's not worth the effort Ruff.

.375 Flanged is worth it if you want to hunt in Africa with it, as the 9.3 is not "strictly" legal in a lot of countries where a .375 is the minimum.

I agree that Sabatti needs to overcome thier production issues! They have a chance to place a lot of young hunters in the double rifle mode that couldn't afford one before, if only they could get their regulation together. The move to add the 375Fl to their line up is a good one that has long been needed in the double rifle field. That one chambering will make that a double rifle for the world, and will work for the bottom, and still work for the top of the chain as well. If they come out with the 375FL double and get their regulation in control I will be one of the first in line for one!

I'll bet there is an opportunity to buy those badly regulated guns for cheap and dock a 1/2 inch off the barrels and pay a good gunsmith to re-crown and re-regulate them properly, etc. I bet if you spent a couple grand on one it would still be a good cheap gun.

I used to feel also that 9.3 was "close enough on paper" to the 375FM. However after actually using a 375FM I feel has some real advantages (and a few disadvantages). The felt recoil (for me and very subjective) was less with the 375FM and although the 9.3 is not bad this is even more pleasant, while at the same time giving you a bigger/heavier bullet and more energy.

Ammo and cases for the 375FM are available through a number of sources with both Norma and Nosler having recently added it. I have also spoke to Hornady and tried to put a bug in their ear about also adding it to their list of offerings.

The current downside is that the guns are more expensive than many of the production 9.3's. The ammo, brass and dies are also not as common as the 9.3 at this time.

At one time I had 5 different 9.3's in my personal collection, now down to two guns in 9.3 and plan to only have one when finished downsizing.

Ken,

You're an evil man. Just evil. I already bought the 9.3 UGEX from you this year and have the 500 Round Body PH on order. Now I need a 375FL? Just Evil, man!

Although I absolutely love the 9.3X74R cartridge in a double rifle, and I own two doubles so chambered, and they are not for sale, I still would rather they were both 375FL . This is because even though both are close and both will do about the same job, the 375FL is legal minimum in all the countries for the big five that I’m aware of, but the 9.3X74R is not in many places for anything larger than Leopard.

I used to have a Merkel .375 H&H double rifle. I reduced the load to Flanged velocities and it still shot perfectly. I only sold it help fund a pre-war English double.

Hi here is a update:

The norwegian sales people of sabatti, spoke to the sabatti people in germany on a weapon seminar or something, anyway sabatti was aware of regulations "problem" and there respons was, that grinding in the barrels didn`t harm the rifle, it was just a simpler cheaper way of regulating the barrels, if they didn`t shoot properly after beeing put together, thats why some rifles has grinding and some don`t. and if they where to do it the old fashion way it would take much more time, and the rifle would cost more.

soo... they basically they told us to take what you get for the price. i am no gunmaker, but does the grinding in the barrels do any harm?

and the 375 Flanged magnum NE is for sale and is avalible in 2types

Mod. CLASSIC SAFARI Express with ejectors

Mod. THE BIG FIVE CLASSIC SAFARI with extractor

im not sure if there are any price diffrence on those two.

Here the ejector guns are usually $500 more.

Would you consider taking a round file to any of the barrels of your rifles and think that it's doing no harm?

Does it comes with a cased set of round files with matching wood handles, for final tuning of handloads?
