I was also out this weekend with the 458Mag. Some results;

One of my favourite rifle and surprisingly light on recoil. Load; 480grn woodleigh at 2150fps.

Is it crimped and is it compressed.
Have you used BM2 with 510's ?.
I am useing 2206H but have heard that BM2 was the go.

there is no air in the case with BM2 but I wouldn't call it compressed.
With the 458Win Mag I have decided to only use 480's and 450grn bullets to counter and pressure problems that may occur with bigger bullets.
The 480grn bullets were use with great success in the original 450cal rounds of yesterday.
I do have a few tins of the discontinued 2206 that I will also be using with this round (around 75grns).

Oh, and a slight crimp.

Nice to see a positive thread for a change, on the old .458.

Hey mate, just got back on the air and see you have been busy with my new rifle haha. I do love the work done and look forward to firing it again now it has it's potential realized . Yes you have converted me to barrel bands so now I guess it is going to cost me money now nice shooting as always and I see the quad lives on the back of the hi-lux now full time. You best get the tray extended and extra axle so mine fits on there as well. I will get onto those extra 45/70 projectiles tomorrow, can't have your "varmint" gun running out of projectiles.

With BM2, I emailed Woodleigh several weeks ago and got this response. Hope its OK to post.

"Whilst 2206H and 2208 are fine, Bench Mark 2 is best, fine grained, it fits in the case easily. Use 70-73 grains for around 2150-2200 fps. Use Federal or CCI MAG primers. The 480gr bullet leaves you a bit more room than 500gr. If you want to use2206H and 2208, simply use 500gr charges as listed in ADI manual."

Does anyone have the ADI manual loads? Could they PM me or post here (if thats ok).

Cheers
Ash.

Just Google "ADI" and you select "Rifle data" then caliber and you are there.

Got 450 Ackley to run Aushunters load and it is only 60 psi under maximum load.

72 grains of 2206H under the 480's will give you 2139 fps without the same pressure.
