A really great hunt!!!
      #199396 - 14/01/12 07:31 AM

I donīt know if itīs boring to see this hunts in the north. They are rather similar, but this was a really great one. We were 7 hunters that were invited by Swedish state forest department. This was in the south of Sweden. We stayed in a very nice Inn with very good food. It was a very well organized hunt. Mostly people but also dogs that were supposed to get the game towards us, the hunters. We were supposed to shoot Roedeer, Fallow deer and Wildboar. I am used to hunt in thick forests but to have a stand in a Beech forest were you can see some hundreds meters is great. During this day we did have 200 Fallow and 70 Wildboar observations. I did shoot 2 Wildboars and 2 Fallow deers, one of the pigs I did like to shoot is a breed between a Wildboar and a tame pig. Unfortunately after my kills I was unsecure about my scope (or maybe I did shoot bad, I have not yet have had time to tried my rifle) because my hits was high and left. So at the end of the day I did not shoot on animals that I otherwise would had shot. But in my opinion this was a top class Swedish hunt with nice people. //Staffan

No its not boring at all. I enjoy seeing European hunting photos and stories.

I think you must be a good running shot, shooting in such terrain and hit a fast running beast.

Are they running full speed, or moving more carefully?

Thanks for the pics.

They run, but not often very fast if they havenīt seen you. Deers and Mooses are quite easy to stop by whistle if they havenīt smelled or seen you. If they ran fast you must be very good. We recommend people to donīt take shots on running animals. But with the pigs you often must do that if you want to get it. I donīt think an average hunter shoot on running pigs if they are not in up to 40 meters. //S

Staffan,

I noticed the ear pieces. Do you wear a radio for communication when hunting? What sort of frequency ie VHF, UHF etc?

Thanks.

Assuming it is not an IPOD.

We always use radio, 155 MHz or 31 MHz. I prefer 155. I have this Soundscope silencer in my ears and threadless communication to my radio. And itīs not an Ipod.

Not boring at all Staffan. Seemed to be a very nice hunt even though you still had no snow there.
Its always bad when you cant trust to your gears and specially if its sight you cant trust. Dont you have open sights on your double?
