Mpofu

I like your hippo photo. Is that the Zambezi in the background or a lesser body of water?

Buffalo no. 3 also looks to have a very wide spread of horns though buffalo no. 1 has long and high hooks and could be bigger (?).

And the lion - great trophy you lucky fellow!

NitroX,

Spot on re the Zambezi, just up from the Mupata gorge.
Buffalo 1 was 39" and had a good hard boss.Apparently scored 102 on the SCI scale (whatever that means). He initially ran away for about 300 yards, after the first shot, through both lungs(375 H&H Mag, woodleigh soft), and tracked back to wait for us , under a tamarind tree, with the look of real death in his eyes.. It took a further 6 shots, at 50 yards, through the chest cavity to knock him over.
Buffalo 2 was 38" a bit soft on top.One shot, broke his neck, at 60 yards.
Buffalo 3 was 42" , an old boy , with chunks of his boss knocked off. Shot through the heart, ran about 80 yards, a quick death bellow, and that was it.
The Lion was very big bodied and was a nightmare for 8 of us to carry/drag in the hessian sacking which was used for the hide. No idea on weight.
M.

I agree with Craig Boddington when he says that you should never judge a Buff trophy in inches but rather in excitement and challenge. As far as I'm concerned even a mediocre spread of horns is a great trophy if it was a challenge..................... however............... I've gotta say........... that last Buff is a real beauty.

Well done man.
