A Jeffery .450/400 restoration
      #198545 - 03/01/12 09:49 AM

It was a bit on the rough side to start out

But someone took pity on it

This one need the full Monty and more

New wood, a new front sight and safety lever and LOTS and LOTS of polish work not to mention re-cutting the engraving.

more to follow

Magnificent, sir! But then, your mastery is well known! I shall wait for further pictures with extreme eagerness!

Thank you for posting and good hunting!

The engraving is very crisp on the gun but the protective lacquer gives it a washed out appearance, it is not.

here is the finished product

It's great to see those old guns brought back to life. Well done.

Looks nice!

Bring it to Reno, get it over to my place for a cat chase.

Cheers

Looking forward to seeing it now that it is totally done.
True what Curl said. This old horse was well worn but had good bones and IMO, well worth resurrecting.
Once the restock was deemed neccessary, we just went all in and decided on a total restoration.
Personally, I prefer a high condition original, but there just aren't many early 400 Jefferys around to choose from. The decision really was to choose between an old gun which would just languish unused or give it a new lease on life which is just what Steve has done. Really turned out nice!
