Last Weeks Hunt!

Spent the week between Xmas and New Year chasing a few goats in the hills near home with a mate.
Most Ive seen in the area, mainly due to the winter burns off in the area to reduce the fuel loads and goats moving in to munch on regrowth.
Some places it has been near on impassable from all the vegetation but with the area burnt off it was a lot easier to see and hunt the goats in the area.
Shots ranged from 5m to about 200+m across a few of the gullies.
Some areas are that steep you can’t see the bottom.
The Remmy pump comes into its own in this type of country where the action is close range and fast!
You need to get your shots off quickly and accurately if you want to be successful.
We hunted morning and night when the goats were most active in the hills.
A good week and we managed to take 72 goats, good result considering the terrain.

BTW the sap/resin from the Xanthorrea makes for good superglue.

Look´s like you have had a very successful hunt. 72 it´s a lot. What do you do with all those goats, do you eat them, sell some??? /Staffan

I didn't know that, but I've used it, dissolved in Methilated sprits, for wood finish. Gives a lovely rich red colour and is as hard as Shellac.
Oh, and good hunting there Hunter 338. Goats'll keep you on your toes.

WOW! that's a lot of goats. Good pictures.

Pump Remington - what scope - is that a 30 mil. Leuy?, what calibre? - 8 round box mag?

Rifle is a Remmy pump in 308, 10 shots mags, leupold 2.5-8 x 36.

We took meat from a lot of the young goats.

That looks like it would be fairly rugged country to move through. Good going with the goats.

Congrats I love my model 760 in 223 and my model six in 30-06!
