Pato
Great photos and hunt by the looks of things.

Altamaha
They are. I am a far more wary of Scrub Bulls than Buffalo, even when not wounded.

That second to the last looks like it was crossed with a holstein cow. I thought they were all black...
Great pics Pato!

They often are, and will charge more often than buffalo.

Alan Moon whom used to run guided hunts in Far North Queensland for pigs and scrub bulls, said the scrub bulls were often tooey. And someone else I forget whom, said scrub bulls are more likely to charge than either water or cape buffalo. They are probably a bit less heavy etc though.

I've had two scrub bull encounters which were "near" charges and one "near" charge of a water buffalo. "Near" charge as in not a full one confirmed charge (eg in one case it was charging but didn't now where I was ), or close to one, ie a part one, before I backed out.

Pato, I wish I had early morning walks like that!

I would have thought that is dried mud. So the horns were actually white in places?

Pato is truly fortunate in having such outstanding game territory so near his home!

If I were younger I would find a way to move from the US to Pato's area.

I wonder if the white on water buffalo is a new phenomenon or always been in the population?

Many wild species when they are domesticated start to "whiten" or even become completely white. Such as turkeys, peacocks, guinea fowl. Obviously birds might be different to buffalo! But goats, sheep etc as well.

Good going Pato...

The white is a natural phenomenon... and it does come through to their horns in places.

Interesting horns on the scrubs. From the tips growing towards each other, to a nice sweeping curl, to almost flat out like buffalo.

A neat genetics project for a doctoral candidate: "Horn Structure in Feral Bovines caused by Genetic Intermixing of various Domestic Stock".

Back in Georgia USA there were wild cattle in the private coastal areas with a good bit of Brahma bloodlines. In the 60's I hunted a few, they were wilder than deer and the bulls put me up a tree more than once!

The meat from the hump was extremely tender and tasty. Do you gents in OZ use meat from the scrub bulls for table fare?
