Anyone know anything about this rifle? It was made in 1887 but re-barreld later to 250-3000 and have the proof marks.

poor quality restock from the pictures on Kribys sight. A rare gun, odd caliber and barrel length. Recolored and an unusual safety arrangement. Priced right if the bore is still good. Neat, but......well used and not the greatest restoration I've ever seen. Did I say neat?

Bouldersmith,

How well does a rimless case function in a Farquharson? When I had a .250-3000 built on a Winchester Hi Wall years ago, I used 8X57JRS cases to form a rimmed version of the .250-3000, rather than try to get the finiky extractor to work with the original rimless version. RCBS forming dies made the job of producing brass a simple one.

I knew I had seen that before.

I wonder if it is listed in Winfer's book on Farq's
as to the original calibre.

xausa,
I only know of one other rimless Gibbs fark, in .318wr, and the owner tells me it works flawlessly. Myself, I like flanged cartridges in a falling block.

Nope, the number is not in Winfer's or Kirton's books. Mechanically is is in excellent condition, the case colors were done right but the wood is poorly done. The extractor works fine, it has a spring loaded tooth that snaps into the extractor groove, it pulls them out fine on extraction but removal needs to be done by hand.

"but removal needs to be done by hand.", boy that would not make me a happy camper. Both my 1897 Westley and My H&H built on a PD action toss the cases clear.
