Hallowell % Co. has a very nice sidelock double rifle by Luigi Franchi for sale. http://www.hallowellco.com/Franchi%20375%20DR.htm I have not been able to find information on any other double rifle made by this company, only shotguns and other rifles. Does anyone know if they have a line of double rifles and if they also make guns with boxlocks and less engraving?
I don't believe the Hallowell links speak about of the same guns, the actually Franchi O/U double rifle called Xpress entered in production in 2012-2013. About the Xpress, I have the same opinions of other Italian double rifle of reasonable price that is take a second hand double of higher quality at the same price. I attach you a test made by some Italian journalist about it but pay attention often the rifle reviews in Italy are strongly addressed by the rifle maker: http://www.franchi.com/sites/default/files/contenuti/press/pdf/l-Armi%20Magazine%20AGO.pdf
Hi!! I own and hunt with a Franchi Xpress chambered in 9,3x74r. It' s an honest rifle, accurate and affordable for drive hunting. Franchi is a famous gunmaker, now owned by Beretta holding. The factory is in Urbino. In this part of Italy there is an old tradition of gun makers, that was generated by the passion of Montefeltro duke Federico , several century ago... probably you have seen the portrait of this avid Hunter made by Piero della Francesca (1450 circa). The barrels of the Xpress are made by Sabatti. The rifle is fine and comes at a good price. Do not underestimate it.
