So NT wants him back? http://www.cairns.com.au/article/2011/08/23/179171_crocoff.html

Hmm.

What would one do with a 5.48 meter croc with one front leg?

Surely there are bigger ones to catch?

You croc hunters post some photos!

5.48mtrs is a very big croc.

A big one over 5 mtrs would probably be noticed if anywhere near where humans went.

I know of one (Alive) that would go close but probably just under 5m at most and he has a lot less teeth than Cassius.

"Sweetheart" was of course 5.1 mtrs.

There is a few big ones around, there are permanant traps set all around Darwin and they remove every one that they catch in what they call the croc management zone which I think is a 50 km radius around Darwin, they average a couple of hundred a year.
Mostly small to medium sized ones, big ones further out of town generally only get trapped or shot if they are causing trouble. Its by no means a free for all to go get one.

cheers gaff

Your big salties scare me when I see the photos of gents standing in waist deep water holding a fishing rod!

The Aussie photos of big crocs of past are impressive to say the least.

I fooled around with gators way back when I lived in Florida, but your salties are a lot more animal and deserve a huge amount of respect.

That is a sensationalist piece of reporting. It is certainly not an issue at all here, and most of us wouldn't have a clue about it. Cairns can have the bloody animal for all we care.

They are just potential winners of a Darwin award.

My thoughts exactly, CNN style reporting.
