Need new suspension on a series 80 Landcruiser
      #187428 - 06/08/11 05:10 AM

Need new suspension on a series 80 Landcruiser - commercial station wagon model.

What is advisable for the replacement? And what sort of prices? Where?

Thanks.

Old Man Emu - made in Oz. It has the greatest suspension travel of the non-radical road-worth suspensions. I think I paid $2K for 4 springs and shocks for a Toyota Tundra.

I have TJM suspension, its done 120 thousand since putting the coils and shox in and it now needs two new front shox, pretty happy noting where I have taken it and the wheel travel I get.

Tough dog are really good too.

Regards,

MOG

I went into TJM for a quotation on some stuff and got one from them at the time. Was wondering how good or not, the "TJM" shocks and springs are?

What suspension did you have on it? If the answer is "stock", then ask if you shouldn't just repair the stock suspension? The vast majority of situations will be handled beautifully by the stock suspension.

If you carry a heavy load, then you might well need to go up to an OME to level the ride.

The 80 will easily take 33" tires with the stock suspension and will also take 35's if you need the clearance.

I'm just a "keep it stock" guy when it comes to Cruisers - they're extremely well engineered and it's hard to improve on them.
