an area of great historical interest that seems to come out of long war times now. anyone heard about the possibilitys the sportsman will have there in future?

Based on the comments by those who have been there on UN Peacekeeping missions, I'd say "lean".

I certainly hope to be wrong!!
Someone not long ago linked to a Sudanese outfitter's page presenting a small Greek (?) living legend, and looking at the photos there simply blew my mind away.
Another upcoming prospect, I hope, will within a foreseeable future be Uganda.
Hopefully.... Those countries have little to live on, a lot of fighting groups that move between the countries seeking protection in one while fighting in another. But: looking at the development over the past decade vs. the gloominess of their future over the previous two, one remains hopeful.
I'm 36, I can still wait for a few decades for some new countries to open.

Let's see what President B. Hussein Obama does to glue the South back on to the North.

The boundary between north and south Sudan and the Ethiopian/Etritrean borders are shot out. You might get something to the southwest but it's real tiger country for lawkeepers.
