Spearfishing Trip
      #184076 - 18/06/11 02:45 PM

Ive been back about two weeks, from our spearfishing trip to the Pilbra. poor weather and vis the first week so concentrated on sheltered waters and got some nice crays, bar cheek , cod and Jacks. As the weather improved so did our catch. Ate well on seafood.
Nephews joined us and we had a great trip. Sage my daughter got in for her first look around and got some crays .Also saw her first shark a small reefie. She caught her biggest fish , a GT of 12kg 's which took her around 45min to land. Heres some pics Mick

Seen a few on the road on the way home. caught this one to replace the pork supply at home. ( Butchered one before we left)
We raise them for about 6 months then butcher. Mick

TKS - love the colours! The aqua green, or blue - whatever it is, is striking.
Those crayfish look like a descent meal for a man. A couple would be perfect.

Looks like everyone had a wonderful time. How deep do you have to dive for the crayfish?

The shallowest we got them was around 1m . The pic of my daughter is standing depth but mostly 2m to 5m. all grabbed by hand not speared or noosed. Mick

How do you cook them? The pan with 9? - were they baked or placed in a BQ? Sauce? Seasoning? Whats the red stuff - peppers? yes - I'm drooling. Are they ever simply boiled in salt water like a lobster or crab?

Some ripper crays there Mick.

How do you fit it all in, hunting, fishing, work!

Good to see Sage likes to get in on the action.

Hunt hard and enjoy the adventure.
