Personally I would say that shot is a little high! If considering the depth of the angle. Close, but a little lower. Just my un-informed opinion!
Quote:
While use of one’s own rifles is encouraged, it was recognized early on that nobody can do that much shooting with a bigbore and emerge unscathed. The solution is sub-caliber options and light loads. SAAM is equipped with bolt action Ruger .223s with express sights, and light loads are available in some cartridges.
Interesting using .223's and light loads. Seems to miss the point. I wonder how many shots are taken during the course? If a lot, probably some sore and bruised shoulders would no doubt occur!
Would be an interesting course to do or hear more about.
Thanks for posting.

You are absolutely correct that with that head angle the aim point would be lower, regarding the SAAM course, I guess if you can afford the $4k for the class you could afford a case of Nitro ammo to shoot while there. Looks like fun but out of my league!

93m. You are right he looks like he just lifted his head from feeding not charging.
I guess with solids a higher shot would be better than a low one as a solid should go through the boss and into the neck or spine ?.
A low shot would smash him up back to the eye balls and he would keep coming ?.
I know a brain shot is best but I'm talking about hedging your bets.
I have seen roo's shot in the face with a 243 and hop away. It is amazing what teeth will stop.
