I just picked up this lovely, unaltered, '43 vintage Husqvarna 9.3x57. By far the nicest one I've run across. As you can see, it wears a sticker on the stock that reads : "JAKTMARKER och FISKEVATTEN" along with the initials "J&F" , "Grundad 1913" and the moose antlers. Hoping somebody can translate and tell me what it signifies, if anything. I like to think the gun has a Scandinavian moose or two to its credit but it obviously was owned by a hunter who knew how to take care of his rifle! Have 100 rounds of brass and am awaiting dies to arrive. Do the fixed sights generally hit to point of aim with a load duplicating the 286 gr factory loads? Thanx for any help!

would be best you try an original box Norma ammo with the 286 grains bullet. this load will allways be your reference and the chance is very high that your rifle is sighting for it. you have a Husqvarna Mod. 46 A and I recommand that you dont load over Norma verlocitys in your rifle because this is not a Mod 98 action.

"Jaktmarker och Fiskevatten" is an old Swedish hunting magazine still in print. The name translates to "Hunting grounds and fishing waters", founded in 1913.
Looks like a nice rifle in great shape!

Would there be any significance to putting that sticker on a rifle or was it likely just somebody's idea of decoration? I thought about removing it but it looks like it has been there for a long time and it does add some "romance" to it. Plus, who knows what kind of stain it would leave if removed. BTW, what is the difference between the models 46 and 46A?
Thanx

the Model 46 was in production from 1927 -1937. than came the Model 146 with a belgian made Mauser 98 action but because of WW 2 Husqvarna was forced to go back to swedish M 94 actions in 1942. this was the Model 46 A and the only real difference is the pistol grip with a cap. the Model 46 have a round pistol grib. http://www.skydevaaben.com/allhvamodels/info.xml

The sticker was probably only put on there as a form of decoration, probably in the 70s or 80s, you often see similar stickers on Swedish rifles used for moosehunting (as the moose population was exploding in the late 70s).
So if you like romanticing about the 70s and Swedish moose hunting, keep it!
