Is that a side lever Single shot shotgun ?

Reminds me of the Aboriginies over here who go hunting in whatever with single shots, no trigger guard, loose gun -
ie stuffed but it goes bang !!!

Although that one looks to be in slightly better nic.

So Johan,

What is the purpose of this post?

The guy is wearing traditional dress and has an unusual single barrelled shotgun with it appears two cheekpieces?

John,
The traditional clothing you refer to is often called Dishdasha, Thawb or Kandura. Considering the climate in ME I guess it's very comfortable to wear.

Well, hunting can be enjoyed without having latest cammo clothing, optics, tailor made tweed or loden, most recent overcomplicated German contraption or an utterly expensive bespoken gun. I don't care very much what people wear or use as long as hunting and fishing commences across the globe. Dishdasha or blue jeans - whatever floats your boat.

True.

I wonder with that single barreled shotgun, perhaps it is designed to be used by more than one person?

We have a lot of Middle Eastern members on the NE facebook pages, and they are often keen hunters and shooters.

The ordinary guys in a village or town, often do not have great access to many firearms so use what is available.

The Middle East was quite an important market for BSA and they did special often what we would think of as gaudy finishes for that market. The Single barrel "Snipe" shotgun sold well there and were finished in colours rather than the traditional black. One order according to Knibbs book had Palm trees and animals in gold on top the barrel over the chamber.

Now the photos are not that clear on the gun but the fore stock reminds me of the BSA Single X11, the fore runner of the Snipe and a much better made gun, the Single X11 is a semi hammerless gun. Of course it may be of Italian or Spanish make as they also produced simple single barrel shotguns for this sort of market.

As for the "dishdash" I wonder how often the hem catches on the undergrowth? I have often wonder how they got on years ago when hunting cloaks were normal dress in colder climes?
