Cast is a blast !!

Got my 440 grain cast 404 projectiles from 450 Ackley today in the mail.
On Dave's advice I loaded 75 grains of 2209 with a CCI magnum primer and got 2065 fps.
To my surprise they shot about 3/4 of an inch to the left of my 400 grain Woodleighs at 2270 fps.
The first group was about 1 1/4 at 50 yards.

I then took it shooting and shot this little sow at about 45 yards. The damage was impressive.

450Ackley might be able to tell us what "blend he used".

Fatboy404 - I just went back and reread 450's Saturday casting session thread where he said "should work very well I'm hoping" - obviously a man of understatement !

That is a hell of a good result Neal. You might just be hooked on this casting thing. It looks like ypou have a bit of expansion there. Now you need to think about trying it on something with a bit of size to it, at least for the first one in the magazine untill you see the results. What alloy did Dave use, AC, WD or HT? Details man, details.

I know why they kill well now.
Shot an 80kg boars this morning with them. I shot him in the south end as he was traveling north.
Found the projectile behind the ear and it still weighs 183 grains.

Dave will have to tell you what he did in making them Von Gruff.

The mix these were made out of was plain old wheel weights, at about 85%, with another 10% Linotype added and 5% pure tin.

Welcome to the Cast Bullet Fan Club!

Glad to see that others are taking up the cause ( the "cause" is cause it is cheaper and works well).

You ought to see what the 350gr RCBS GC casts do in my .416 Taylor at 1800fps!
