Had a good hunt over the break. Took this bull early one morning from 3m. one arrow ,2315, ribtek 135. 65lb Bowtech commander. Down in 100m. rough score 94-95 points. thought he was going to stand on me at one stage. Here some pics, Mick

Good stuff, well done.

Is that Mud on the horn or a Nice broom ?

Would he have gone 100 if the broom wasn't there ?

Nice Bull Mick , Looks like mud on the horn & that would be around my guess on the score , unless he is very heavy ?

I was thinking of getting a 80lb + Bow to try on the Buff & such , but looks like you did well with the 65lbs

Where was the hit & how much penetration did you get ?

Still that was a very close & I bet heart pounding stalk/shot !!

Looking at a Bowtech Destroyer 340-350 , but only go up to 70lbs , may be enough ?

Thanks for the post !

Sarg
The bull looks to have huge bases.

264
Do you know the measurement around the bases of each horn ?

Anyway, you have balls to do what you do !

Found the bull and moved in for a shot then the Bull decided to walk towards me, I was worried at one point as he was coming straight at me at around 7m he veered away and walked past at around 9 feet. As he went behind a small bush I drew and put all other thoughts out of my mind and concentrated on where I wanted to hit him
- Didnt look like I got a great deal of penetration as the arrow broke of on his third step. shot placement was perfect. Blood pumping out immediatly. Bull pulled up about 30m away and blood flow was very good, stood there for about 20-30 seconds then ran into the thick stuff. heard him stop about 30m in so left him a bit then went into get him. The arrow had gone in alot further than i thought. it was almost thru the bulls heart and the aorta had been cut off.
Yeah heart beat , rate was out of control.....
The rough score is around 95- 98 douglas points. Bases are 18 4/8 to 19. The bulls left horn is badly broomed off, and is
31 3/8. Right is 32 2/8. Will get a accurate score when skull is cleaned, and horns off. Still my best with a bow.
He had some large scars on his neck, from recent fights. Cattaract on left eye. Very old bull.
SARG- Shoot as much poundage as you can with a heavy arrow and a low profile two blade head. Black stumps are ideal.
I usualy hunt at 72-76lb for buff. Mick

Excellent. Sounds like both of your hearts were pumping at a rate of knots !!!

Nice size bases. So he would probably have gone 100 without the brooming ?

He certaily has that "no neck / thick neck" old bull look to him.

Anyway, good stuff.

Thanks Mick ,

Nice , could have gone over 100DS then if not broomed & heavy to , Buff/game are all ways hard from pic's & Ive been shooting Buff since I was 17 , LoL !

Yes I suppose I need 2 set ups , 1 for Deer & light game & another for the Big guys , unless I can crank up a 70lb to 75-6lbs maybe ?

Again good info on the penetration , thank you !

Yes , Hard to get that close to Deer , but a Samber hind is the only Deer I've touched alive (other than fawns) , when she went passed me in a Flax Swamp , I was in between her & another Hind (last years fawn) & I think she thought I was the other Deer for a second , but I was not in fear of my life !

Been a lot of Samber Stags shot with the Bow now days to !

What a stunner!

You use neoprene (sailing) deck booties or similiar?
