Zephyr,

Thanks for posting. That looks like a fine shotgun, which would be great to use.

Beautiful gun, Zephyr! Do post hunting pics when you have time.

Good hunting!

Yes, and displaying the classic Italian engraving pattern referred to as "Majestic". The stylized gargoyle lion's roar is the source of all the foliate scroll.

Here's another beautiful example of the Majestic pattern on a Piotti Monaco:

Another example of the genre on a Fabbri O/U:

The Fabbri sovrapposto is a gem. FWIW there'a pair shown on p217 of Nobili's "Fucili D'Autore"

Zephyr

Just picked up the thread -I am not a particular fan of hammerless guns (for historical/collection purposes, as against real life use) but that is stunning and exactly what I consider to be the epitome of classic English guns - the rose and scroll engraving is superb! - plus a sidelever!

Congratulations on such an excellent acquisition

I just have to share this double shotgun with the members:

Description for Item # 278466772

Up for auction is a very unusual double barrel shotgun. No maker name found on this gun. Looks like it has some serious age to it. Has what appears to be a cleaning or ejecting tool in the back of stock. Has very neat side by side trigger set up. Gun folds in half. Very unique conversation piece.

Auction on GB.com

I assure you I am not the seller and have no interest in the auction. I am fascinated that some back-woods craftsman had such an interest and burning desire for double shotguns.

Where do you suppose this gun came from? Khyber Pass?

It looks like the trigger guards double as mainsprings. Interesting!

Fully equipped with a turnscrew.

Would anyone have the courage to pull the triggers?

You have to marvel at this item. Think of the stories it could tell.
