My brand new Remington XCR II in 375 H&H had a few issues, hard bolt closing due to an oversize extractor, and I've heard the newer 700s have been losing bolt handles occassionaly. So I'm having my gunsmith Kevin Weaver who is wonderful with Rem 700s, replace the extractor with a Sako extractor, weld the bolt handle on and while he's at it, rechamber it to 375 Weatherby. I've always wanted a 375 Weatherby and the XCR II it weighs all of 6 1/2 lbs without scope (7/8 lb less than Remington specs it at on their web page). It should be a perfect Alaska brown bear rifle when it's done. It should be hell on elk too ..

Hello Chuck,

you did the right thing!

I have a Brno rifle in .375 Weatherby and planned to use it in Namibia for antelopes from springbock to Oryx (not to forget warthogs).

Load consists of Barnes 270grs TSX and Rottweil R904 (same as Reloader 19) with a velocity of 850 m/s // ca. 2800 fps.

If the rifle does not like the TSXes, I will try Nosler Accubonds 260grs.

best regards
Rolf

I've seen the TSX's group from 3 different .375's and two different powders in mine - all really liked them - with every load. Mine are seated so they are .030" off the lands.

Thanks! I'm shooting 570g TSX's in my 500 Jeffery. They group, and open up well, yet penetrate amazingly.
