Jeff, living in South Africa, I am blessed to be able to experience what you are coming to do whenever I want. Although you are coming here to hunt, and that is your primary focus, can I encourage you to take as many non hunting photo's as hunting photo's? It does not take long for Africa to invade your soul, and when you sit back in your chair when you get home, it won't only be the hunting that keeps popping into your memory. When you see/smell/hear something unusual, snap a quick pick. Ask anyone that has been here, and they will probably all tell you that one of the things they miss the most is the smell of the fire, or the quiet chatter in the boma after a long exciting day. I hope that all your dreams are realised on your trip, and that you truly do get the "African Poison" in your blood. I wish you could all come out and share our continent with us. It will, I hope, change you forever Jeff.

I wish you warm barrels, warm smiles, fond memories.

Regards.

Powdersmoke.

Not much for yours Jeff as there must have been a shiteload of pee strained through them by your age mate haha.

Good luck on your hunt cobber.

Hi Powdersmoke,

Thank you for your kind wishes and suggestions. May I say that your correct about one's memory being activated by seeing/smelling/hearing and the need to record more than just the "kills" and for that reason I am taking 2 cameras, and although I would like to have taken the Nikon Reflex camera outfit it is just to heavy as the outfit weights in excess of 15kg.

The 2 cameras give me a good variety to choose from and I will pack plenty of batteries and have spare cards as well and being Digital you can run them through the T.V. or the digital photo frame.

As for the "African Poison" that you and other member have mentioned, I no doubt will be infected but unless I win the lottery or something, the photo's and trophies will have to suffice.

Hi Gryphon MATE,

It's nice to know who your friends are.... and although you are possibly right about the large amount of use they would have had, the last thing that I would have expected was you to volunteer your's so that I could hunt a Buffalo, a very nice gesture indeed.....

All jokes aside, thanks for the thoughts it is really appreciated.

Hi Mike,

Again thanks for the thoughts, it has been a long time coming and I do want to make the best of it. As for your jokes, keep them coming, it gives a lighter side to the day when you do post them.

Cheers to you all,

Jeff Gray

Jeff, that is great news about the 2 cameras! Pity that you are on such limited time, as I live in Kwa Zulu Natal, and we could've hooked up for a chat, and a cold one, ........oh well next time, hint, hint, I will hold thumbs for the lotto!

Regards.
