Speaking of Martinis
      #177524 - 22/03/11 09:41 AM

I looked at a pretty nice Martini in 25-20 the other day. Fully engraved and made by some guy named Bates in England along time ago. That is all I know about the rifle, except price of US$985.00

I know nothing of Martinis and wonder if this is a decent value for this rifle.

What else should I look for as I am very interested in it.

Need a lot more info before I would guess. Size and type of action, condition a quality of engraving, stocking condition etc. Pictures would help.

I would characterize it as a High end sporting rifle. 100% engraved in rose and scroll on the action with most of the case colouring retained. 26" barrel. I would rate the metal at about 95% and the wood at about 90%.

I know nothing of action sizes although this rifle seems to me to be quite light and handy. Pictures are difficult as the rifle is a couple of hundred miles away.

iirc there are two different cartridges under the designation 25-20. the common revolver cartridge and a much longer 25-20 single shot for which brass is expensive and hard to get.
