RECORD BUFFALO TAKEN IN THE NORTHERN TERRITORY.
      #17712 - 08/08/04 11:20 PM

It would appear that the record books are about to get a bit of a shake up.
This weekend my hunting mate harvested a bull buff that measured 18 inches around the bases of its horns and tip to tip was or is in excess of 85 inches..
What more can I say..

Send them to me. Keep the size in the 10 to 50 kb size.

If they are ready to upload and don't require to be resized I ca upload them quicker and let you know the web addresses for posting. If they are too large it depends on when I can get to it.

Thanks.

Alan

That is one impressive bull buffalo trophy. Unusally wide and non-typical wouldn't you say.

I think the lucky hunter might need to widen his trophy room from the looks of it.

Nitro X commented:-

I tend to disagree with the above .
I believe there are two distinct types of heads in the NT
One is the long straight type and the other is the round curved back style of head which seems to be more common..

The head is unusually wide on the above buff but they are still around..
A simular head was taken 7 -8 years ago in the Territory..
Just my thoughts.

Alan:
In the trade, they're called 'sweepers' or 'crescent' bulls. That one is a very good example of a 'sweeper'. Nothing a-typical about it, except the size. Bloody HUGE!

Damn! I was going after that bull next weekend, now have to make other plans!

Yes a-typical probably wasn't the right term.

Only saw one sweeper on my hunt and he was at 20 yards and moving slowly towards us.

Did see a 'crescent' bull though.

John that looks to be a really nice even head and by the looks of the water around you,you got it the hard way.
The bosses apear to be huge, are they better than 18 inches.
Well done..
Did you see many cane toads?

Alan

I will try to answer your question in the other thread, but I don't remember the individual measurements as it was jut scribbled down roughly on the fleshing table. When it arrives down here I will re-measure it.

Yes, Cane Toads everywhere in the camp at night.
