OK, we all agree that the hartebeest is just too damn ugly, and I don't think the wildebeest is much better. I certainly don't want one looking down from my wall. What about a rug made from a full back skin?
I have a Blue Wildebeest rug, and it truely is beautiful. When they're processed and cleaned up their colors really glow. One of the P.H.s I hunted with has a Red Hartebeest rug, and it's beautiful as well.
I've also had pillows made from the wildebeest and heartebeest, and they're nice too.
I have a Kudu rug from a animal we culled. Beautiful thing. Also brought the horns home and had it put on a plate. It was young bull that had got hung up in a fence.
The outfitter said that the horns looked like a set of horns from a monster Nyala. He knew my Taxidermist had been over several times looking for a big Nyala. The outfitter took some sand paper to the tips to make them Ivory looking and tagged then in my box as Nyala.
You could hear my Taxidermist squeal all the way from Houston up here to Virginia when he opened the box.
If you squeeze the sides of the pillows that were made from springbok back hides the white hairs down the middle stand straight up.
