I wonder could you use birdshot instead of ball ? Has any body ever tried that ?

You could use the plastic shot capsules designed for the .38 special and paper patch them to fit. Main draw back would be the donut patterns thrown due to the effect of rifling spin on the shot.

Rifling is too fast imho. Even a 66" twist is too much at only 1,000fps as donut patterns result as close as 15 to 20 yards.

Bore rifle shooters use plumbing tape. Seems to work well for them as well.
