Another BRNO 602...... Photos
      #174695 - 02/02/11 01:25 PM

Found a couple of photos of another Brno 602 which I used to own.
The pictures were taken somewhere about 1985, in the Dirranbandi area of south west Queensland.
Sorry for the poor quality.
The rifle is a ZKK 602 .375 H&H mag. It was an early 1970's model with the peep sight. From memory, maybe 1972.
It was totally original, (apart from the sling swivels) and wore Conetrol mounts and a 1.5-5 Leupold.
Bullet would have been a Hornady 300 RN.
The pig was shot not long before dusk on the previous day, and is a tad bloated.
At that time the rifle was fitted with the dreaded set trigger, as that was how it was when I bought the rifle.
Fortunately the standard trigger also came with the rifle, and I did fit it at some later date.

Jeff,
When I look at myself in that old photo, I think I look more like the Dirranbandi Daggy!
If I look a bit scruffy in the picture, there is a reason.
In those days I was roo shooting for a living. Not with the 375 of course!
I shot that pig not long before dark, while heading out to the back of the property to commence getting into the roos. Didn't have the camera with me.
Spent all night shooting, got back into camp early morning, salted, tagged, and graded the hides, made breakfast, reloaded a heap of cartridges, (22-250 Rem) then drove back out to snap those piccys.
It was summer and pretty damn hot by the time I got back to that pig.
I needed a sleep pretty bad!

470.
You have been playing with Brno's awhile.
1985,I was getting ready for boarding school and using my grandfathers 303-25 which I thought would take anything on the planet.

Neale,
The years do slip by pretty quick mate, that's for sure.
Those photos were from the good old days where I was lucky enough to be able to hunt and shoot almost every single day.
Wish there was a way to turn back the clock!

No flies on the 303-25 from what I hear. Never owned one myself, but they had a pretty big following by a lot of Aussie hunters!

Jeff,
Sorry mate, I just realized that I didn't answer your question about where the rifle ended up.
Actually I have no idea. A mate in Brisbane knew someone who wanted it, and he organised the sale. I never knew who bought it. I sold it somewhere around 1990.
That was long before all the permit stuff came in of course. Back then you could buy and sell rifles whenever you wanted to.

470.
Thats the good thing about my job as I fire a shot most days.
Traveling between our properties at daylight and dark is a great time to pick up pigs and other game.
Always have a rifle behind the seat.

Neale,
Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about. You're a lucky man.

4seventy that's a bloody neat trick to making the pig look bigger

Certainly was a nice looking rifle.

Cheers
Greg
