Ben,
If you get to handle a 'red pad' Ruger you'll see what people mean about better quality. MUCH smoother dropping the block, adjustable trigger ... wood was still a lottery!

Odd think is, they have a reputation for better accuracy, but are of the era when Ruger outsourced its barrels, so it also should be a lottery depending on whether your rifle was fitted with a WIlson or Douglas barrel.

Then again ... perhaps years of use has simply smoothed them out.
Cheers...

While we're talking about no.1's, can you adjust the trigger yourself or is it a job for a 'smith? Secondly, the loads I'm using in my 458 lott are fairly mild, yet after firing, the case's tend to stick & only come out quarter the way & I'm having to pull them out instead of them flicking out. Any ideas?

gundog,

The triggers are adjustable, to a certain extent and the ejector may need more pressure added. It should all be in your handbook.
