A shame that you are so far away Roger as I have pushed up 500 olive trees with the tractor here on the farm and will probably push up a few thousand more. The root balls have great figure in them and I`m burning them!

One fellow took a few dozen for wood turning but no one seems to be really interested, maybe you know of a knife maker down under that would want some to use rather than me burning them.

If you were here you could take a truck load!

Nice knife.

I will take a pic of one I have here at the house Roger. I dropped it in an old cattle trough of water to soak the dirt and was then going to hose it clean. This was to chainsaw it in half,I split another with an axe for a mate that wanted some,I have never asked how he did with it,must do.

So I pulled it out of the trough and did nothing,it is still sitting on the trough haha. There are thirty in a heap down in the paddock that I didnt burn all roughly the same size ..I thought someone might want a few.

Note all the lumps and bumps on it,they are all the same and this is the section where the trunk swells as it hits the earth surface.
Size is around 400mm at the widest point.

Jeez Gryphon, I can't believe you'd burn that stuff, we have a few ornaments made from Olive wood in the house, really dense with figure (too heavy for stocks ??) What does a big root weigh, I'd buy one of you if the surface post wasn't bonkers, best, Mike

Mike I have a heap of them as prev posted,I will push up heaps more too later this year, you can have as many as you want mate.

I previously went onto a wood working forum specifically to have people come and take them ,one fella turned up and made me a pen in return for a van load, two actually, one o /wood one an antler pen.Weight Mike? 4-5 kilos at a guess.

I can dig a couple out of the heap and split them and send you a piece, you did send me the briar root( untouched so far)

Dont hold your breath Mike,it may take a bit of time...It will be better if I split a couple and dry them out. They have been laying on the ground for prob 10 months. The one on the edge of the trough was in it for a couple of months so it would be very wet inside still.Keep nudging me mate when you think of it.
